Too much thinking not enough doing

Pictured is my cat Tiger. As he looks out the window he seems to be in a contemplative mood, kind of like how I've been feeling these past few days.
My daughter stopped by this afternoon where we discussed what we wanted to do with our lives. I've worked for corporate America and I'm tired of playing the game. I've also had my own consulting business that I enjoyed but I didn't want to start over in a new city. I know I need to do something but I'm not sure what that something is.
For now, I'm going to try a telecommute job. I did find 2 that I might go after so we'll see how that goes.. please please wish me luck. I need to find something to do before I go crazy.
We'll talk again soon :)

My Brains Working Today

Ahhh today feels much better.
After having such a difficult time writing yesterday and finally giving up, today I have something to blog about.
I mentioned yesterday about the wedding coming up (11 days). My daughter and the bride aka my niece popped in and grabbed me in the middle of cooking dinner. Lucky for me my husband came home not 5 minutes later, and the girls and I headed out.Her dress and veil were ready for pick-up. No problems with the dress but the veil was all wrong. What she wanted was 1/4" satin trim running along the top and underside edges of the veil. What she got was 1/4" satin ribbon with little loops on either side of the ribbon on just the top side of the veil. The comb of the veil was too big, the ribbon which she used was not properly fitted to the comb. The toole laid flat against the comb and her head. I think my niece said it wasn't poffey enough. That meant the comb needed to be flipped the other way. Needless to say, she asked me if I could take it home and fix the veil for her. It's not that I couldn't do it but I told her she paid these people good money to make the veil and they needed to fix it. The owner felt bad and said not to worry he'll get it fixed. I'll post my busy schedule in just a bit, but for now, I need to get the laundry started.

blank state of mind

Today is just one of those days. I don't have them too often but when I do, it's hard to think.
It's not that I don't have a million things to do with a graduation in 5 days and a wedding in 12, but the harder I think.....the more my mind goes blank.
The phone's been quiet today with only 3 calls....... my daughter, brother-in-law then his wife. Let's make that 4, my sister called during the writing of this blog. At this point in this blog, it's taken me 2 hrs and 45 min. to write this much. I guess my head is empty. Ho hum.. OK this is really painful, I'll end it here and I hope to have more to say tomorrow.

Lazy Weekend

My husband and I didn't want to do anything or go anywhere this
weekend until we realized how bored we were. We decided to have a 2 man BBQ and went shopping for what we needed. Needless to say,the food was yummylishis.
The following day we decided to drive around town and snap some pictures. I think I took over 200 pictures of various subjects.
A lot of the pictures really turned out great for someone who doesn't have a clue. The only altering I did was some cropping and that's only because I haven't read up on the program. My husband asked me what I was going to do with all the pictures. Well, I've decided that I'm going to make my own book through snapfish.
I've already made a folder containing pictures for the book and will continue to add to it. After I come home from my next trip from Hawaii, I'll download and select the final picks for the book. That will be my Christmas present to myself.

Sweet-Tooth in Overdrive

Have you ever have one of those days when you wanted something to eat yet you couldn't figure out what it was your tastebuds were craving? I had one of those days yesterday. I went to the store and bought all the junk food I thought I wanted. I planted all the goodies infront of me turned on the TV and started taking a bite of this and that and nothing I ate seemed to satisfy me. I can tell you, by the time dinner rolled around, I had a belly ache. I broke down and baked me a coffee cake muffins. I made a new pot of coffee (yum) and had me some of those muffins hot out of the oven. Ahhhhh that was what my taste buds wanted. Here it is.....

Not to worry.... I ate one for you. :)

My Furry Family

Let me introduce you to my furry family. I have 2 cats and as of Feb. 1 dog.
The oldest of the bunch is Lika, she's a German Shepard Husky and was 15 years old. She was such a great dog, I can't say enough about her and she is greatly missed by the family.
Next is Kona I'm not sure what breed he is but I do know he's mixed. He's much younger than he looks, he's just 5, and has the energy to prove it. Kona loves to play catch. My husband and I get tired throwing the ball before he gets tired catching it. He loves to go for walks and begs us to take him with us when we go out. He's a really good traveler.
Then there's kitty, the black cat. She is 3 1/2 and is the only survivor of her brother's and sister's. I heard her crying one day under a co-workers truck. I was told that all the kittens must have gotten up in the engine of his truck. He had seen all the other kittens dead on the road as he traveled home that evening. She's a great cat. She'll come to you only on her terms, if you try to play with her or try to pick her up, she'll either ignore you or swat at you. So finicky but that's okay we still love her.
And last there's Tiger now affectionately called "the bratt cat".
He's just turning a year old and was I found at a garage sale. We think that the owner abandoned him as the house where he came from was empty. For a kitten, he sure is lazy... but very loving. He loves to be carried around on our shoulders and is content to stay there for as long as we'd let him. He loves to sneak up on the others including my husband and I, he'll race Kona for the ball when it's thrown and will bat at Kona if he's not ready to give it up.

My Chick Flicks

What can I say, I love my chick flicks. Pictured are the some of the DVD's that haven't been borrowed by either my daughter, sister-in-law or niece.
Once in a while the girls will gather here and have a girls night of chick flicks. On those evenings, my husband will hang out with his brother and see a movie or he'll stay home and hide in the office. On those occasions, he'll come out of hiding and checks out what kind of goodies the ladies have brought to munch on. According to him, that's the only upside of having the girls over.
I can't tell you how many times I've watched my movies, I'm surprised they aren't worn out. Do DVD's get worn, I'm not sure. I know I can watch them anytime I please, but the best time to watch DVD's are on stormy nights when the cable goes out. I choose a movie, grab the popcorn, chocolate and drink and press play. Can't get any better than that.
I've not been shopping lately to add to my collection, but that's okay when I do, the price will have dropped considerably. I'm thinking maybe after the wedding and things have calmed a bit, I'll go on a search for more.
Stay tuned as I'll show you my book collection tomorrow.

my very first stalker & why I started a blog

Happy Happy Joy Joy.......

Yea I have my first stalker. Her name is Sara of beaninspired
Normally when I go through a blog, I checkout the look of the initial page. If there's an element that catches my eye I can tell whether or not it's a blog I'd like to follow. I normally have great instincts and is pretty much spot on. I was not disappointed after going through Sarah's older posts. Pay a visit to her blog as you may get inspired, she has lots to say, things to ponder and ideas galore.

Why I started a blog.......
This is a way I can express myself without having to edit or compromise who I am. My husband and I have been married for 28 years and I love him dearly. He's sweet in the way where he always makes sure that I'm happy. I always tell my friends & family how lucky he is to have a wife who doesn't like shopping for clothes.
As far as freedom to decorate my home, that's another story. I'm not a girlie girl but I do like feminine touches in the house. I love things to look fresh like a sunny day in a field of grass, daisies and laundry blowing in the wind. My husband.... well let's just say, he picked most of the furniture in the house. Lots of browns & greens. Nothing in my house is soft. Lucky for me, some
of the walls in my house is yellowish, here are a few pictures to share.

The music was sooo loud!

After cooking and decorating all morning and into the late afternoon, we headed home to shower, change and take care of the animals. We were running late but the picture to the right was well worth it. I was hoping to catch the sunset but the clouds were rolling in along with the rain.

It all turned out perfect. The music was way to loud for my taste but the kids loved it. My nephew the DJ said there was only one volume. MM Hmm sure.. They also set up a video slide show of all the graduating seniors and ran it throughout the night. It was great. I hope you enjoyed the pictures of last night.

The upside of cleaning

As stated in my last post, Friday is cleaning day. You may wonder other than having a clean house what the upside of cleaning is........ Laundry. I don't know why but I love doing the laundry. Last Saturday my husband had gone on a bike ride (motorcycle) supporting fallen police in our area with some friends.
How many times have I told the family to check their pockets before throwing their clothes in the hamper. How many times have I had to scrape gum off the drums of both the washer and dryer not to mention ink. I try to check the pockets prior to throwing the items into the washer... Boy did I score yesterday. I checked my husbands pockets and found a little over 50 dollars. After dinner last night I told him what I found which of course he wanted back... My reply............ you snooze you loose baby :) it's mine.

Friday.. good or bad?

You need to bare with me as I attempt to pretty my page. This is how new I am to all of this.... as I pretty my page I continue to view my blog as changes are completed. I go in and out in and out and I view my profile etc. I then notice the count of how many people have viewed my page. I smile because there were quite a few viewers.. I only later realized that it was me! Hmmm what a bummer hahaha. I had to laugh at myself.... nothing new there, I always do ;).
Getting back to Friday's. Friday's is always my cleaning day, laundry, sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming etc. I hate it. I love a clean house and it's not that bad with just my husband and I but still it needs to be done. So what am I doing blogging? To justify this, I'm blogging in between the laundry (hehehe). The upside of Friday's... I'm wide open to playing during the weekend with no guilt of a dirty home.
This is going to be a great weekend. We're having a big blowout party due to the the twins are finally graduating from high school. We're expecting over a hundred teenagers.....YIKES! That's a bit scary but even scarier is cooking all the food. Great food, great music most of all a great time. I didn't think I'd have a problem finding pictures of the boys, but I had to dig way back to my daughters wedding 3 years ago. They look so young!
After all it is Friday and I really need to get the house clean. I'll do a quick blog tomorrow and show some party pics on Sunday. Till then... see you in the funny papers. bk

My very first post

As I look outside my livingroom window, I see the dark clouds rolling in and I anticipate the storm I hear coming my way. The thunder has started and the rain is about to fall from the dark sky. I love knowing that the storm is almost here. The 1st picture is out my back door taken just now. You can't really tell just how dark it is but trust me, it's very dark. The other 2 are rainbows I saw as I stepped out the front door to take more pictures. I wish the rainbows were a bit more vibrant, but I'm glad I was able to catch them in the first place.

I'm sure my blog will change, I'm just not sure what those changes will be. I love to take pictures and I'll make sure to share them with you.

As I'm sure you've noticed, I'm not a very good writer though I hope to improve. My writing is like putting my thoughts on paper as if I was talking to you. Sorry about that.

So now I have my 1st post out of the way and I'll see you all (as my grandmother would say) in the funny papers.
